Mahjong lesson and tea tasting in an NYC photo studio

New York City's mahjong scene has been blowing up recently, but you have to know where to look to find yourself at a table. Join me in my Brooklyn photo studio, where I’ve gathered many friends to learn and play mahjong, and I’ll teach you the ins and outs of this ancient game. • Once you settle in, I’ll pour tea for everyone and tell you a little bit about the game's history. Then I’ll walk you through the basic game—aka chicken hand—rules. • Next, start up a game! I’m prepared to teach total beginners, answering questions and offering guidance throughout. If folks catch on quick or already have some familiarity, I can teach / play the more advanced Hong Kong points-style game. • As you play, I’ll document our gathering with a 3D film camera that creates unique, holographic GIFs. You’ll leave with the mahjong basics, a holographic portrait, and recommendations on where to find some great Asian eats in this part of Brooklyn, if competition has whetted your appetite. ***Please note: the experience requires at least three booked guests, as mahjong requires 4 players!

The Lower East Side has a rich music history and heavy concentration of record shops with hard-to-find records. Join me in visting some of my favorites. • We’ll meet in the East Village, at a former landmark record destination. Where I’ll share some music history on the neighborhood, nightlife and vinyl community. • Then head to Ergot Records, where I’ll share a little about my work as a DJ and record shop owner, and then we’ll start digging! • As we explore the neighborhood, I’ll recommend other great shops and music destinations (based on your taste), and talk about how the landscape of record stores (& neighborhoods) in this city have evolved. • We’ll end up at Duty Free Records, where I’ll walk you through my curated collection. Then we’ll have a private listening session—diving into to the albums you’ve just picked up, some of my favorites, or just vibe to whatever you’d like (vinyl preferred). You’ll leave knowing where to pick up new treasures from the shops we visit, plus my tried & true recommendations of where to have the best digs, drinks, bites, and musical experiences.

Discover the world of hip-hop dance, focusing on iconic moves that originated in New York City, in this engaging break-dancing class with me, Kid Glyde, a crew member of the Dynamic Rockers. • We’ll start with a dynamic warm-up to build strength and flexibility before I lead you in an in-depth breaking lesson, with multiple technique variations learned from some of the greats. • You’ll put on gear that represents New York’s hip-hop culture from the ’80s, and practice your creative exercises solo and with a partner. • We’ll wrap up with a freestyle and battle, where you’ll take what you learned and put your new skills to the test. You’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for breaking as an art form, and unforgettable memories from our workshop.

Bares clandestinos e historia en Midtown

Welcome and Happy Holidays!! *This tour also takes place on NYE with a live ball drop and drinks included all night. The duration is from 4:30-12pm. Lets begin our Prohibition journey together with a drink at our first stop!! We’ll cheers to Prohibition and drinks as we tell the tale of the period’s most notorious gangsters and infamous bootleggers. At our second location, we’ll focus on the women of the Gilded Age, and the movement that gave rise to an oil king while celebrating over a drink, apps and decor taken to the next level. Options for cocktails and appetizers are for purchase along with time for mingling. At our last location we will conclude our Prohibition history in midtown Hell’s Kitchen and celebrate the end of an era over more drinks and food. *purchase necessary: please expect beer from $10-18 and wine/cocktails at $18-25 (before tip and taxes) You will be guided by myself or one of my well trained colleagues :) Other things to note: -Dress is business casual by the request of the establishments. -Drinks are not included. -Prepare to comfortably walk 1.5 miles at a moderate pace. -Time for food and mingling provided. -We are not wheelchair accessible - establishments have the right to refuse service due to over intoxication - Tour takes off at the start time. NYC is full of energy and Hell's Kitchen is where New York’s best drag queens command the stage with glamor, glitter and killer dance moves. Get ready to join us for a care-free night out featuring dancing and drag! Our adventure begins at our favorite lounge bar. Meet your group for the night while we sip the first round of drinks, (which are on us)! Be prepared to “cheers” to our fabulous night ahead! While at the first bar, your drag queen host will share their story and explain why NYC drag is special. From there, we will parade over to our drag show of the evening. The talent level is so high that many famous RuPaul Drag Race queens were plucked from the stages we will visit during the tour. Our night ends at the most prolific bar in Hell’s Kitchen. You’ll feel the energy as soon as we swing open the front door. Once we enter, we’ll stride our way to the front near the stage to ensure we have the best view. All tours end with a dance party with the local crowd! Stay out and the night away! On the fence? A recent guest just wrote a blog post about her night.
